Example Ways to use Edupedia

From Edupedia

One or more educators may use Edupedia. Educators, researchers, consultants, government employees and business people may collaborate in the dynamic development of educational courses. Contributors to a course might be within a school or college, a group of schools or colleges located anywhere, a school district, educational region, state, nation or any combination. A group of educators can develop one or more courses. Participating educators can go online and contribute to a course in Edupedia whenever it is convenient. To facilitate this process, these educators can participate in free conference calls (video and/or audio) between two to five individuals who are located in various states or even different countries.

For example:

  • A community college might have four campuses. Four educators, one from each campus, can collaborate in Edupedia to create a course that they all teach. They can create the Content Goals, which are like the table of contents at the beginning of a book. Each content goal should start with an active verb. They can create lesson plans which consist of these items: Prerequisites, Interest Approaches, Teaching Practices (Discussion, Presentation, Demonstrations), Assignments and Test Items. They can also create SIMs entries for each content goal so the resultant text book is aligned with the lesson plans and test items.
  • A combination of educators within a college(s) and high school(s) can create courses that are easily adopted and accepted for articulation agreements for students to earn college credit when taking a high school course.
  • A state education agency can ask selected educators to create courses for primary schools, high schools, or its community colleges.
  • A course's SIMs (Supplemental Instructional Materials) which are aligned with the Content Goals, Lesson Plans, and Test Items can be viewed and printed by students or teachers and used like a text book.
